  • 🎓 Year 11 Roadmap: The Road to Success (2026) 

    A Guide for Pupils and Parents: NEAs, Practical Assessments, and Final Examinations

     

    📍 PHASE 1: The NEA & Oral Sprint (February – March)

    Focus: Banking marks and completing non-exam assessments.

    • Feb 23 – 24: 🎙️ English Language Oracy Mop-ups. Final chance for Individual and Group Discussion recordings.
    • W/C March 2: 🛠️ Engineering Unit 1. External Examination window begins.
    • March 10 – 19: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Welsh GCSE Speaking Exams. Unit 1 (10th–12th) and Unit 2 (17th–19th) Oral assessments.
    • March 12: 🏃 PE Unit 2. External Practical Moderation.
    • March 14: 🎭 Drama. External moderator assessment of live performances.
    • March 27: 🏁 MAJOR NEA DEADLINE. Final coursework must be submitted for:
      • Construction (Units 2 & 3)
      • History
      • Religious Studies

     

    📍 PHASE 2: Portfolio Completion (April – Early May)

    Focus: Finalizing creative projects and practical coursework.

    • April 18: ✍️ Product Design (Option C). NEA coursework deadline.
    • April 24: 🛠️ Product Design. Final NEA and practical work deadline.
    • May 7 – 8: 🎨 Art NEA Project. Final 10-hour practical exam (Room A11). Strict exam conditions apply; work cannot leave the school.

     

    📍 PHASE 3: The Summer Exam Series (May – June)

    Focus: Written examinations. Standard start times are 08:30 AM (Morning) and 12:10 PM (Afternoon).

    • May 8: Sociology Component 1: Understanding Social Processes (AM)

    Week 1: May 11 – 15

    • Tue 12 May: Geography P1 (AM) | Biology Unit 2 (PM)
    • Wed 13 May: Welsh Unit 3 Reading/Writing (AM)
    • Thu 14 May: Maths Paper 1 – Non-Calculator (AM)
    • Fri 15 May: History Unit 1 (AM) | Sociology Component 2: Understanding Social Processes (PM)

    Week 2: May 18 – 22

    • Mon 18 May: Chemistry Unit 2 (AM)
    • Tue 19 May: English Lit Unit 2a (AM)
    • Wed 20 May: Public Services Unit 1 (AM) | Religious Studies Unit 1 (AM)
    • Thu 21 May: English Language Unit 2 (9:00 AM) | ICT Vocational (PM)
    • Fri 22 May: Physics Unit 2 (AM) | Health & Social/Childcare (AM)
    • Fri 22 May: 🏁 Deadline: Final submission for all Engineering assignments.

    • Mon 1 June: PE Unit 1 (AM) | Religious Studies Unit 2 (PM)
    • Tue 2 June: Welsh Unit 4 Reading/Writing (AM)

    • Thu 4 June: History Unit 2 (AM)
    • Fri 5 June: English Language Unit 3 (9:00 AM)

    Week 4: June 8 – 10

    • Mon 8 June: Applied Science Unit 1 (AM)
    • Tue 9 June: History Unit 3 (AM) | Sport Coaching Unit 1 (AM) | Construction (PM)
    • Wed 10 June: Maths Paper 2 – Calculator (AM) | Product Design Unit 1 (AM)

     

    When Planning holidays, please be aware that the exam boards could re-schedule exams up unto Wednesday 24 June 2026, you should be available for examination up to and including this date.

    📍 PHASE 4: Celebration & Results

    • July 3: 💃 Year 11 Prom.
    • August 20: 📑 GCSE Results Day (TBC).
