    Key Stage 3

At KS3 in RE we aim to study all six major world religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism. We do this with the hope pupils gain a better and deeper understanding of the diversity of the world in which we live. Pupils will understand the main beliefs, practices and teachings from each religion along with the history attached to each of them. They have the chance to visit certain Places of Worship and see firsthand how the religion works on a daily basis.
We also cover ethical and moral issues at KS3 that are relevant in today’s society such as capital punishment, inspirational people, just war, stewardship and the environment.

    Key Stage 4

RS at KS4 is compulsory and is 100% exam. Students will study two units and will sit two exams. Unit 1 - Religion and Life issues covers the topics of Relationships, Prejudice and Discrimination, Looking for Meaning and Our World. Unit 2 - Religion and Human Experience covers the topics of War, Medical Ethics (mainly Abortion, Euthanasia and IVF), Religious Expression and Authority and the Law. Students with a GCSE in RS have gone on to study for qualifications in Medicine, Law, Teaching, Psychology, Social Work and many more.
