    Welcome to the ALN faculty where we believe that all pupils with an identified additional need, have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum which is accessible to them.

    Our support starts before pupils join us at Brynmawr with bespoke transition arrangements to ensure that pupils who need more guidance are supported from the very beginning.

    We ensure that all pupils are fully included in every aspect of school life. Examples include the School Council, mentoring schemes and holding roles of responsibility such as prefects.

    We believe that all children should be equally valued in school. We strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe.

    COPE

    The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness is a nationally recognised qualification outcome of the ASDAN programmes. The pupils work on a series of modules which promote and allow schools to record a wide range of personal qualities, abilities and achievements of young people. Pupils are introduced to new challenges and activities which will benefit them in further education and the work place.

    There are no examinations.

    Level 1 is comparable to working at GCSE grades D-G.

    Level 2 is comparable to working at GCSE grades A*-C.

    There is a 100% pass rate to date and in Autumn, 2014 the school was recognised for its work on inclusion by gaining the ‘ASDAN Centre of Excellence’ award.
