    Pupil Deprivation Grant

    How our grant is spent:

    At Brynmawr Foundation School our plan for using the PDG allocation from Welsh Government is integrated into our school Development plan (SDP). Our four overarching priorities (2020-2021) linked to:

    • Achievement and standards
    • Wellbeing and Equity
    • Teaching and Learning
    • Leadership and Professional Learning

    Our PDG is spent in the following ways for 2020-21

    • Enrichment Opportunities - £5,000
    • Pastoral Support and Wellbeing - £52,030
    • English development and Literacy Support - £35,240
    • Mathematics development and Numeracy Support - £42,847

    The strategies implemented by the school are drawn upon the most effective practice and educational research from organisations such as Sutton Trust, which includes well-evidenced interventions as part of a whole-school strategy.

    Professional Learning Grant

    Welsh Government have awarded all schools in Wales with extra financial support, this National approach was launched in 2018, creating a professional learning vision for the evolving education system in Wales.

    How our grant is spent:

    At Brynmawr Foundation School our plan for using the PL allocation in 2019 is as follows:

    • Access leadership programme to support leadership, Senior Leadership and Middle Leadership - £13,500
    • Professional Learning Leader and release of Leader to attend professional learning meetings and curriculum reform programme, then disseminate back at school/cluster - £3,400
    • Engagement with professional standards and improving teaching and learning by accessing regional PL programmes etc - £5,575
    • School staff access specialist support from a range of Learning Network Schools linked with identified need(s) - £1,000
    • The Wellbeing Lead will attend regional workshops to support the ACE developments - £525

    The strategies implemented by the school are drawn from the 8 elements that make up the National approach.
